In the words of Pastor Dave, “Stability is the skill of staying put in order to get somewhere, to become someone.”
But, what does that mean exactly?
I think of the frog at the bottom of the well, content where he is. He does not spend his time yearning to get out or wishing that the walls were shorter or less slippery. He knows that his well is drilled deep into the earth, unchanging in location. So when he looks up, he is always looking at the same circle of sky. But the things he sees in it vary day by day. And over time, he discovers all sort of patterns about the world, insights only made possible because of the constants he has in life.
