Today I wore my black cap, which is quite a common accessory for me. It’s a habit I adopted in late 2021 after a week of having to deal with scarily disrupted sleep. Since then, whenever I get a bad night’s rest, I’ll put on this cap— in order to both conceal my face and to tolerate the overhead lighting at work.
Here’s a photo of someone you may know wearing it:
Yes, I have the same one.
Two of the best weekends in my life in 2020 were: (1) a weekend in April spent watching Succession season one on Saturday and Succession season two on Sunday; and (2) a weekend a couple months later doing the exact same thing.
So I like to wear this cap because one, it’s a fun tribute to the finest show on television (last season!). And two, it is a reminder to show up—waking up in the middle of the night if needed, going to work when you don’t feel like it, and being there for the people that matter.
