Enter the most generic goal ever: to “read more.”
Read more books, I should say. (I am very good at reading short little things, too good even.)
I’ve never been successful in achieving this goal, even though I’ve had it on my mind for a couple of years now. And this year, I am taking a different approach—by committing to read a single author, Wendell Berry.
In order to become more well-read, I can choose to read books from many authors, genres, and eras. Unfortunately, this has never panned out for me. So instead, I will start small by becoming familiar with the work of Berry, who writes about topics all tangential to farming and the earth.
Berry has written over 40 books— I may not read all of them, but I think I chose right.
